About the BrightParrot Family

BrightParrot

BrightParrot is currently from Hays, NC; with his geocaching roots in Fairfield, CT.

He started GeoCaching in July of 2007. His first cache was a night cache, found on July 14th, 2007 that he happened across while letterboxing. This thing, this geocaching, it intrigued him. So off to the store and one GPSr purchase later, another geocacher was born.

The origin of the BrightParrot name

The BrightParrot name originates in two parts - the first part is that he is a ParrotHead, and has been for about 20 years. (ParrotHead = Really big fan of Jimmy Buffet) He has seen Jimmy and his Coral Reefer band in concert every year for the last 19 years in multiple venues. Some years, he even saw him twice! Over time, he has collected concert shirts, hats and towels; he also has every CD album that he could get his hands on; all of Jimmy's books, including the ones that he co-authored with his daughter, Savannah Jane.

The second part is from this obsession with flashlights - that's right, he is also a flashlight-o-holic; he has a fine collection of flashlights ranging from your standard Target / Wal-Mart purchase all the way up to specialty high performance lights such as his Tigerlight and FoxFury headlamp. On any given day you can find him carrying about 2 to 4 flashlights on his person. (He's a great guy to be around in a power outage, and especially at a night cache!)

So combining those two items together, he came up with what is now the BrightParrot name.

MrsBrightParrot is originally from Fairfield, CT and now also lives in Hays, NC!

She started GeoCaching in September of 2009. Her first cache was a regular cache, found on October 11th, 2009 that she was taken to with her husband - you have to try this, he says... Now she's hooked, and another geocacher was born.

Well, if you haven't figured it out by now, her husband is BrightParrot, and she is his wife... need we say more? (It seemed really logical at the time...)

HeyYouInTheFur

...and here comes the son... HeyYouInTheFur is a native from the fine state of North Carolina, but is no stranger to the rest of the Eastern seaboard. Living with good ol' mom and dad in Hays, NC he loves the hunt!

He started GeoCaching in July of 2010. His first cache was a night cache, found on July 31st, 2010 that mom and dad allowed him to stay up late to attend - He really loved following the reflectors, and he was the one who found the final!

The origin of the HeyYouInTheFur name

Well, if you really must know... If dad wants my attention, all he does is shout "Hey you, you in the fur!" and lo and behold, an instant response... silly, maybe. Effective? You bet!
